I don’t know about you but this colder weather, and the fact that it’s dark at 5:30pm can definitely affect my mood. It makes it much harder to stick to a consistent *anything* routine!

Pop quiz time!Ā 

Which is the better pre-workout snack…

  1. A sleeve of chocolate sandwich cookies, or

  2. Sliced turkey breast and half an apple?Ā 

You already know the answer to that…

But why is it so hard to stick to sometimes? (Asking for me, too!)

The fact is, what you eat not only affects your 80 year old self…

But it also plays a role in how you move TODAY.Ā 

Said another way, the food you eat can actually affect your flexibility, mobility, energy levels, and just about everything else!Ā 

The good news is that the same foods that help you move better are also the same foods that support better focus and energy levels.

That includes foods like:Ā 

  • Salmon

  • Apples

  • Avocado

  • Berries

  • Leafy greens

  • Nuts and seeds

  • Olive oilĀ 

  • Turmeric

Plus, these foods are a little more ā€œstomach-friendlyā€ if you’re planning to do a heavy workout or take a power hot yoga class.

P.S. It’s best to do yoga on an empty stomach.

Quick — are you sitting up straight right now?Ā 

Studies show that your posture can impact:

This revamped recipe takes the sweetness down a bit, but if you really want to add it back in: add a few tablespoons each of no-sugar-added canned mandarin oranges or pineapple chunks.

Nothing puts me in a better mood than a yummy meal. So today I’m sharing a quick and easy recipe that you can make for lunch!

Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken Salad

(makes 2 servings)

  • 4 big handfuls (cups) mixed salad greens

  • 1 cooked chicken breast, diced

  • 4 large strawberries, hulled and sliced
